Chapter 8
Episodes Three and Four were story builders, concentrating more on letting the audience continue its discovery of both Zach's increasingly complex character and the world he inhabited. Jacob was actually proving to be quite a good actor. Maybe it was because Ethan had started to get to know his facial expressions in real life, but just a look, or a raise of an eyebrow sold him a scene. God! So much naked-ass Jacob, and what an ass! Truth be told, Ethan was getting hot under the collar he wasn't wearing, whether Jacob was butt-naked or dressed in his character's sinfully tight jeans and black leather jacket.
Thank God for the blanket.
Lunch was quiet and kind of rushed as they moved back for disc two of the “Game-athon”, as Jacob had taken to calling it. He opened the window, pushing up the blind, and light and fresh air danced around Ethan's head. It was cleaning his thoughts and relaxing him, and he settled back for more naked Zach/Jacob and plot. Slowly, but surely, as tiredness began to push its way into Ethan's stubborn body, he found himself sliding until, finally, his head rested on Jacob's bicep. It was strong and solid beneath him, but he really needed to move. Jacob didn't deserve to be draped over. In a minute he would move. Thirty seconds. Maybe forty-five. Sixty tops.
"So I don't get it," Ethan said at the end of Episode Eight, his eyes heavy with the need to close. "Why would Zach feel that killing Jem is the only way of dealing with the issue?"
"'Cause Zack knows stuff about his boss at the base, that Jem character, that you don't know yet."
"Gonna tell me?" Ethan grinned up at Jacob, knowing his voice was bordering on pleading.
"Nuh-uh. You have to wait like the other four million viewers waited —patiently — till Episode Nine."

Jacob would swear forever after that Ethan pouted, and it was entirely Ethan's fault that what happened next happened. He just couldn't resist the sleepy brown eyes and the soft lips and bent slowly, giving Ethan every chance to pull back. But he didn't. In fact, he raised his head slightly and they met in the middle, the softest touch of a kiss. Jacob lifted a hand and curved it round Ethan's face, feeling the stubble scrape his palm, tilting his head to better rest his lips against Ethan's.
He breathed a sigh and parted his lips slightly, his tongue moving to touch Jacob's tentatively. Softly, their tongues met, and they exchanged gentle breaths that mingled and tasted of them both. The kiss lasted forever, each gentle touch nothing more than exploration, learning. Jacob pulled back, his lips damp and his pupils blown, looking down at the man who held his whole future in his hands.
"Ethan?" he whispered, the query soft.
"Jacob," Ethan said and snuggled into Jacob's neck, sleep pulling him under at last. Jacob smiled tenderly and, cradling him closer, settled back on the pillows to let him sleep.
